broadcast package
the promo
the paris 2024 olympics introduced one of the boldest broadcast identities in olympic history - a deep red brandmark built around the silhouette of the eiffel tower, paired with a flexible, color-shifting graphics system designed for live sports. this project reimagines nbc's on-air package for the games, working from a sponsored brief that started from that single brandmark and building out a full broadcast system around it.
the process started by exploring how that mark could translate into pictograms - simple, single-line icons for each sport that echo the geometry of the eiffel tower silhouette. from there, the system expanded outward into the elements that carry a live broadcast: lower thirds, scoreboards, schedules, and full-screen transitions, all built on the same shapes, color logic, and motion language.

logo exploration
each pictogram starts from the same base shape as the eiffel tower brandmark - a tall triangular silhouette divided by negative space. volleyball, swimming, and gymnastics were chosen as test cases because each demands a different kind of motion: a strike, a glide, a rotation. keeping every mark to a single continuous line meant the icons stayed legible at any size, from a small corner bug to a full-screen transition.

full broadcast package
with the pictogram language established, the same shapes, angles, and color logic carried into the rest of the package - lower thirds, scoreboards, daily schedules, and full-screen transitions, all designed to move seamlessly between sports during hours of live coverage.

challenge & outcome
the challenge
live broadcast graphics need to flex across dozens of sports, scores, and transitions - all while staying instantly recognizable as part of nbc's paris 2024 identity. the system had to feel cohesive whether it was on screen for half a second or filling the whole frame.
the outcome
a modular graphics system - lower thirds, scoreboards, schedules, transitions, and pictograms - built on a shared visual language of color, type, and motion. the package scaled across every sport in the games while keeping paris 2024's brand consistent through hours of live coverage.
